On behalf of the National President's Conference of the American Postal Workers Union, AFL-CIO, representing 1.400 Local and State Presidents throughout the United States I am extremely disappointed, in fact, I'm outraged to hear about the E! Entertainment Television's series titled Going Postal: 15 Shocking Acts of Violence.
While the phase "Going Postal" has found a place in the American lexicon, it is nothing more than an inaccurate stereotype and a personal affront to every hard working and dedicated postal employee. The facts will confirm that postal workers are no more likely to engage in acts of violence than any other segment of our society. Postal workers diligently perform their duties day in and day out without any fanfare and often under difficult circumstances. Mostly recently postal workers were hailed as "American Heroes" when confronted with anthrax-laced letters in the mail and parcels containing bombs. On behalf of the National President's Conference of the American Postal Workers Union I strongly urge you to immediately cancel broadcasting and promoting this offensive program. I’m sure that there must be a better quality program to replace this disturbing series and I ask that you do the right thing and make the change now. Thank you.
